Olivia J. Weiss,85, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born on May 8, 1926 in Vanderburgh, Co to the late Joseph and Anna (Angermeier) Schmitt. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN, the St. Bernadette Aux. of the Knights of St. John, the Fort Branch VFW Post # 2714 Women's Aux.. She volunteered as a pink lady for Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, IN, and she was an avid clabber player. Olivia worked as the baker for the Lakeview Truck Stop in Haubstadt, IN for 23 years. Besides her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Cletus J. Weiss in 1994, a grand daughter, Kelly M. Seale in 2007, and her sister, Florine Gries also in 2007. Olivia is survived by 3 children and their spouses, Rita (Rigo) Abreu of Bowling Green, KY, Steven (Shela) Weiss of Fort Branch, IN, Shirley (Micheal) Baker of Patoka, IN, 1 grandchild, Jessica M.(Brian) Poe, 4 great grandchildren, Cynthia, Baylon, and Olivia Poe, and Hailey Koberstein, 1 great great grandchild, Mya Reeves, and 2 brothers, Edward, and Joseph Schmitt, both of Evansville, IN. A mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN, Father Tony Ernst will be the celebrant, burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN. A rosary will be conducted by the church parish at 7:30 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home. The family request that donations be made to the Holy Cross Church.
