Phyllis J. (Learned) White, 88, of Kuttawa, KY, formerly of Eddyville and originally from Evansville, IN, went on to her eternal reward, April 7, 2026 . She had been a member of the New Testament church and had had membership at the Eddyville, KY, church of Christ and the Princeton, KY, church of Christ. Born March 11, 1938 in Evansville, IN. She graduated from Reitz Memorial High School and Lockyear Business College and prided herself on her business acumen, working for the long successful Neihaus Industrial Sales until her early retirement with her husband of 45 years, to whom she was always a devoted and dutiful wife, Tom to move to Eddyville, on Eddy Creek, on Lake Barkley, to the log house they had built themselves and to live that lake life, and where they were very successful in both selling Avon and in being instrumental in the development of Farmer’s Market in Princeton. She was a voracious and avid reader and encouraged this in others.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Thomas Lee White, originally of Owensville, IN, her parents Lynn Perry (L.P.) Learned and Marie (nee Vanmeter) Learned, of Evansville, IN, a still-born baby boy, of Poseyville, IN, and a step son, Doug White, originally of Owensville, IN.
She is survived by her three children, Alan (A.J.) Zenthoefer of Princeton, KY, Martha (Marty) Mills (nee Zenthoefer) of Evansville, IN, and Ann Zenthoefer of Cape Giraldo, MO, as well her step children, Michelle Groves (nee White) of Vincennes, IN, and Thomas L. White II, of Punta Gorda, FL, as well as several grandchildren and her two great-grand-children. She loved all of her family deeply and dearly.
She will be dearly missed by all that knew her as the world changed at her passing.
To honor her request that no other services were to be held besides a brief graveside service prior to internment at Maumee Cemetery in Johnson, IN. Presiding at that service is brother David Morrison, her dear friend. Doctor David French her family physician is deeply held in gratitude for his many dedicated years of wonderful work with Phyllis, as well as Lake Barkley Nursing and Rehabilitation and all the staff of Administrator Michelle Hall for the real quality of life that they provided her in these last years. She loved the place and she was so loved and cared for, and Stodghill Funeral Home in Ft. Branch, IN. is very much appreciated for coordinating the final arrangements.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Maumee Cemetery with Brother Dave Morrison officiating. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
