Richard Leslie Reed, age 78, of Evansville, passed away at Deaconess Midtown Hospital, surrounded by his devoted family, on October 1, 2025. Born September 28, 1947, in Fort Branch, he was the son of the late Amel and Edna (Loveless) Reed.

Richard served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1969. Throughout his life, he enjoyed a variety of interests including softball, reading, fishing, bowling, and caring for his cats.

He is survived by two daughters, Deanna (Donald) Gibbs of Newburgh and Janet (Terry) Durre of Evansville; five grandchildren, Jessica Gibbs, Leanna (Brandon) Adams, Jacob Durre, Dalton Durre, and Megan Durre; and one great grandchild, Hatcher Adams.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by six siblings: Patricia Ann Reed, Carol JoAnn Reed, Genevieve Ashworth, Mary Wilkerson, Wayne Reed, and Beverly Warren.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, October 6, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, with Jennifer Warren officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Clark Cemetery.
