Richard Melvin Silkey, 66, of Evansville, IN, passed away at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville on June 6, 2024. He was born to the late Melvin and Kathleen (Hendricks) Silkey on May 9, 1958, in Princeton, IN.

Growing up, Richard attended St. John United Church of Christ in Buckskin, IN. He graduated from Wood Memorial High School in 1976 and entered the United States Navy. Upon his return from the military, he attended USI where he earned a bachelor's in communication. He worked for the United States government in communications for over 12 years and most recently worked and retired from the University of Evansville in security where he worked for over 7 years. Richard was a lover of music, sports memorabilia, and guns and knives. He was well loved by his family and friends and will be truly missed.

Richard is survived by his brother, David Silkey of Haubstadt, IN; aunt, Wanda Bradshaw of Indianapolis, IN; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home with Pastor Bart Newton officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from noon until service time at the funeral home.
