Rita A. Scheller, 67, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born to Stephen and Anna (Vowels) Turpen on July 22, 1944, in Evansville, IN. Rita was retired from the Evansville State Hospital as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN. She is prceded in death by her father, Stephen Turpen, a sister Rebecca Turpen and a grandson Matthew Scheller. Rita is survived by 5 children, Kent Scheller and Kelli Goedde both of Haubstadt, IN, Scott Scheller of Fort Branch, IN, Chris Scheller of Cynthiana, IN, and Todd Scheller of Evansville, IN, her mother Anna Turpen of Evansville, IN, a brother, Ralph Turpen, 2 sisters Margaret Gries and Ruth Rager all of Evansille, IN, and 14 grandchildren, Allison, Jackie, and Sydney Goedde, Noah, Isaac, Luke, Payton, Jordan,Griffin, Malorie, Mason, Nicholas, Abby, and Jacob Scheller. A Mass of Christian burial wiil be held on Wed. Aug. 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN, Father Tony Ernst will be the celebrant, burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 from 4 PM until 8 PM at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN, and again from 9 AM until service time at the church on Wed. A rosary will be recited by the church parish at 7:30 PM on Tuesday Evening at the funeral home. The family request that donations be made to the Holy Cross Catholic School.
