Robert "Bob" Kiesel

Robert “Bob” Kiesel of Haubstadt, Indiana, passed away on September 22, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on August 4, 1939, to Leo and Lorine (Martin) of Haubstadt. He was a student of St. Meinrad High School for 4 1/2 years and then returned to Haubstadt. Shortly after, he married the love of his life Helen Kissel, whom he met at Hornville Dance Hall. He drove trucks for Emge Packing Co. and then USF Holland Truck Line, “retiring” in 2007. He was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Haubstadt. Bob enjoyed accompanying and listening to his wife Helen play the accordion, attending grandchildren’s events, gardening, and cutting firewood.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years; their children Mark (Tammy), Dennis (Becky), Eddie (Kelly), Les (Colleen), and Lisa (Eric) Bittner; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Donald (Lynn) Kiesel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ivan and Fr. Leo Kiesel; and sisters Elgene Bell, Elvira Meyer, Sr. Mary Leon, and Sr. Mary Jane.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until mass time at the church. A recitation of the rosary will be at 9:00 a.m.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Deaconess Hospice for their excellent care and all the friends and family that helped in his final days.
