"Bob" Ziliak

Robert D. "Bob" Ziliak, 64 of Haubstadt, IN, passed away on May 10, 2024 at his home. Bob was born to the late Donald G. Ziliak and Nora B. (Maxey) Ford on July 7, 1959 in Princeton IN, and is preceded by an infant brother, Roger Scott Ziliak.
He graduated from Heritage Hills High School in 1977 and then began his 42 year career at Norfolk Southern Railroad before retiring in 2019. He served in law enforcement for many years which included serving as a deputy for the Town of Haubstadt and Special Deputy for the Gibson County Sheriff's Department. He was a jack-of-all trades. You could find him bartending a variety of functions, working at Dewig Meats, Pappa Bears Catering, or Carriage Inn. He was also the neighborhood "fixer" of all things and loved to share his candy stash with his grandkids.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Laurie (Blanchette) Ziliak of Haubstadt, 2 children; Krista (Jason) Schmitt and Zachary (Stefanie) Ziliak both of Haubstadt, 5 grandchildren; Maddie, Emmett and Ellie Schmitt, Maverick and Sawyer Ziliak and 2 brothers; Randy (Jamie) Ziliak of Haubstadt and Ryan (Jody) Ziliak of Shiloh, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Andrew Thomas as celebrant. Visitation will be on May 14, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stodghill Funeral Home and again at the church from 10:00 AM till mass time. A rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus #2215 in Haubstadt at 1:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Knights of Columbus #2215 or the Gibson Southern High School Archery Program. Expressions of Sympathy may be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com
