Roberta Louise DeVoy, 79, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN, on August 5, 2022. She was born to the late Edwin Oscar and Anna Elzora (Jones) Heierman on November 21, 1942, in Evansville, IN.
Roberta graduated from Memorial High School in 1960 and attended St. Mary's School of Nursing where she graduated in 1963. She married John Conrad DeVoy on February 27, 1965 and had three beautiful children. She was a loving mother and a very proud, loving grandmother. She went back to college to obtain her bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of Southern Indiana in 1995. She worked with the Visiting Nurse Association for 27 years and she retired in 2007 after 44 years of nursing. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt. She enjoyed playing in her mahjong and card clubs and had regular outings with her nursing coworkers and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John DeVoy; 3 children, Karen (Tracy) Edgerton of Louisville, KY, Mike (Kristy) DeVoy of Indianapolis, IN, and Anna (Chuck) Finnerty of Haubstadt, IN; 2 brothers, Eddie (Dottie) Heierman of Mt. Vernon, IL and Jerry Heierman of Seal Rock, OR; 9 grandchildren, Leah Edgerton, Amy Edgerton, Kayla (Kenny) O'Brien, Alana DeVoy, Jenna DeVoy, Diana DeVoy, John (Emma) Clutter, Elizabeth Clutter, and Andrew Finnerty; and 1 great grandchild on the way. She is also survived by many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt with Father Andrew Thomas as celebrant. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN. A second visitation is on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until mass time at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Donations in her honor can be made to the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 211 N Vine St., Haubstadt, IN, 47639, or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, www.givenow.lls.org .
