Roderic Ellwood Douglas, 75, of Fort Branch, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Deaconess Gateway Hospital on June 27, 2025.
Born on July 4, 1949, in Fort Branch to the late William and Artemesa (Woods) Douglas, Rod married Suzette Gentry, the love of his life, on July 4, 1969. He was a dedicated farmer throughout his life but always prioritized spending time with his children and grandchildren. His passions included trains, gardening, and camping. A published author of his book, "Driven Hearts," he also constructed several homes where his family continues to reside. He had a deep affection for animals, especially his dogs Lily, Ruby, and Rosie, but above all, he cherished his family. Additionally, Roderic was an active member of a local train club.
Rod is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Suzette Douglas; two children, Lori (Mike) Campbell of Fort Branch and Brad Douglas of Fort Branch; four grandchildren, Jackson Campbell, Jessie Campbell, Kassie Campbell, and Cheyann (Jeff) Ursillo; one great-grandchild, Weston Ursillo; two siblings, Judy Pritchett of Fort Branch and Gerald (Pat) Douglas of Fort Branch; nieces Judith Hunter and Jane Miller; in-laws Sandi (Randy) Williams, Bobbie (Dale) Williford, Bill (Maureen) Gentry, and Karen Douglas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings David, Frankie, Jimmy, Mary Lou, and Jo Ann Douglas.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Dr. Douglas Low. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery.
