Shirley M. Baehl, 71, of Fort Myers FL, formally of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born on Feb. 3, 1940 in Gibson County, IN to the late Charles D. and Venita (McEllhiney) Ice. Shirley was a member of the St. Columbkille Catholic Church Ft. Myers Fl and formally belonged to the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ft. Branch, IN. She had worked at Rheinharts, Taught Music at St. James School, and was choir director at Holy Cross Church for 32 years. She was a special education teachers aid at Holy Cross School for 8 years,and was parish secretary. She was choir director at St Colunbkille Church in Ft. Myers,and volunteered at the hospital and church. Shirley played in the "Spectratones" Dance Band for 8 years. She dated for 4 years and married after high school, her husband of 53 years, Vincent A. Baehl of Ft. Myers, FL, who survives her and is survived by 4 children Kent (Doris) Baehl of Ft. Branch, IN, Alicia (Scott) Taylor of Evansville, IN, Steven Baehl of Katy, TX, and Michele (Thomas) Schmitt of Poseyville, IN. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister Patricia McConnell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ft. Branch, IN, Father Tony Ernst will be the celebrant, burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Ft. Branch, IN, and again from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the church on Friday. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Ft. Myers, FL.
