IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Alan
Neidig
July 28, 1949 – February 21, 2025
Thomas Alan Neidig, 75, of Fort Branch, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2025. He was born on July 28, 1949, the fifth of ten children to the late Jack and Viola (Greubel) Neidig. Tom was a proud graduate of Fort Branch High School and went on to attend St. Benedict College, where he played basketball before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Navy.
After his service, Tom became a U.S. Certified Meat Inspector for Emge Meats before beginning his long and dedicated career with the railroad, where he retired after 30 years of service with CSX.
A gentle giant with a heart as big as his presence, Tom never knew a stranger and welcomed everyone with open arms. His kind spirit, quick wit, and deep love for family and his community made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Catherine (Eschenfelder) Neidig; his children, Matt Neidig, Kent (Jean) Neidig, and Amy (Aaron) English; and his beloved grandchildren, Andrew Neidig, McKenna English, Madison Neidig, and Kellen English. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Jim (Cindy) Neidig, Barbara (Randy) Dike, Larry (Cindy) Neidig, Jackie (Jeff) Steckler, and Rita (Greg) Wilzbacher; along with many other dearly loved family members and friends.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, John Neidig, Sara Drake, Janet Weiss, and Mike Neidig.
A true outdoorsman, Tom found great joy in fishing and hunting, especially his treasured trout fishing trips to Montauk with family. His love for sports ran deep, and he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren from the sidelines.
