Troy Adam Thompson, 55, of Owensville, IN, passed away at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN, on July 12, 2026. He was born January 4, 1971, in Evansville, IN, to the late Donald Thompson and Yvonne (Gilliat) Hudson.
Troy graduated from North Posey High School in 1989 and owned and operated T&M Masonry. He most recently worked for ARC Construction for eight years and was a member of the BAC Local 4 bricklayers union. A car enthusiast, Troy enjoyed collecting and restoring cars. In his free time, he liked traveling, fishing, watching horror movies and boxing, and following Dave Portnoy’s “One Bite Pizza Reviews” on YouTube. He married Lisa (Hackerson) Gibson on December 8, 2003, and they shared 23 years together.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Troy is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Thompson of Owensville; daughter, Payton Rebecca Lehar of Washington State; sister, Tiki Thompson of Evansville; stepmother, Diana Thompson of Evansville; stepfather, Gilbert Hudson of Paoli; stepsister, Kimberly (Craig) Morrison of Evansville; and cousins, Todd (Sonya) Teel of Owensville, Tim (Kim) Teel of St. Wendel, and Tracey (Bob) Bender of Fort Branch.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to Heart-to-Heart Hospice, the sixth-floor nurses at St. Vincent Hospital, and Dr. Anthony Stephens and Caroline Coughlin, NP, at the St. Vincent Cancer Center for their excellent care during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Shinyville Hill in Owensville, with Pastor Duane Allison officiating. Visitation will be held at Shinyville Hill on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow at Powell Cemetery in Norris City, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colon Cancer Coalition and Chemo Buddies. Expressions of sympathy may be shared at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
