Vernon Leon Potts, 83, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at North River Health Campus in Evansville, IN on July 14, 2023. He was born to the late Ivan and Edna (Fleenor) Potts on April 16, 1940, in Vallonia, IN.
Leon was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch. As a veteran of the United States Army, he was also a member of the VFW post #2714, The Old Time Auto Club, and the Carpenter's Union Local #224. He married the love of his life, Lois Ann Greubel on January 18, 1968, and they had a daughter, Lisa. He worked construction until retirement from Empire Steel, When he wasn't working, you could find him under the hood of an antique car "tinkering".
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Lois Ann Potts; and his brother, Jerry Lee Potts.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Eric) Ralph of Haubstadt, IN; grandchildren, Carissa and Olivia Ralph of Haubstadt, IN; sister-in-law, Betty Potts of Salem, IN; Jerri Lynn (Terry) Jones; Jack (Lori) Potts; Diane (Jr.) Schillinger, Pam (Greg) McIntyre, Patti (Ron) Grubb, Leigh Ann (Tim) Farrar, Kent (Tina) Lamey and special family friend, Erik (Tina) McIntyre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Visitation will be on Thursday July 20, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until mass time with a military walk through starting at 10:50 a.m. Military Honors will be performed by the Veterans of Gibson County at Holy Cross Cemetery prior to burial. Donations in his honor can be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
