Walter A Knapp, 85, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born on March 3rd, 1924 in Haubstadt IN to Joseph and Helen (Reising) Knapp He was a member of the St James Catholic Church in Haubstadt, the Haubstadt K ofC, St James Mens Club. Walter was a very dedicated family man. He was a farmer for 40 yrs and after his retirement he enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 62 yrs Dorothy (Kiesel) Knapp of Haubstadt, 8 children, Connie (Tony) Goedde of St Wendel IN, Kathy (Roger) Hall of St Joe IN, Bill Knapp of Fort Branch IN, Rick (Vicky) Knapp of Evansville IN, Helen (David) Dilbeck of Fort Branch IN, Debbie (Eddie) VanBurren of Blairsville GA, Peggy (Duane) Elpers of Haubstadt IN and Joe(Kathy) Knapp of Haubstadt IN., 20 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Alma Lamey of Haubstadt IN and Rosalee Sandefur of Calhoun KY Preceding him in death at 2 brothers Ray and Vic Knapp and 3 sisters Delores Kiesel and Sister Terance Knapp and Sister Elaine Knapp A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 9:30 AM at St James Church in Haubstadt, IN with Father Kenneth Betz, Father Kenneth Knapp and Father Tony Ernst officiating. Burial will be in St James Cemetery in Haubstadt, IN. Visitation will be Friday June 26, 2009 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy 168 West in Fort Branch,IN. and again at 8:30 A.M. until service time at the church on Saturday. A Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. The family request donations maybe made to St James Church
