Obituary

William V. Davis, 76, of Fort Branch passed away Saturday July 11th, 2009. He was a graduate of Owensville High School, Purdue University and Indiana University. A dedicated teacher and Guidance Counselor, he retired in 1991, after 32 years of teaching Agriculture, Math and Science. His career included positions at Ninevah High School, New Palestine High School and Princeton High School. He was an FFA and 4-H leader for many years and influenced the lives of many young people. He was a past Master of the Fort Branch Masonic Lodge #696 and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Branch. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Known to his friends and family as Bill, he was always there to help. He was an avid reader and woodworker. He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Myra Davis of Owensville, his infant daughter Myra Lisa, and his brother Samuel Davis of North Manchester. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Jean Woolston Davis; his children, Devon Davis of Ferris Texas, Susan Davis Rardin of Indianapolis, and Duane Scott Davis of Seymour; his nephews, Jerry Woolston of Scurry Texas and Timothy Woolston of Corydon. He had ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Stodghill Funeral Home on Hwy 168 West in Fort Branch, Indiana, on Wednesday July 15th from 4-8 p.m. Burial service will be held at Mauck Cemetery in Owensville on Thursday the 16th, with the funeral procession beginning at 10 a.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home. A memorial service conducted by Reverend John Windell, will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Fort Branch, 100 W. Vine St., following the burial. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Fort Branch at 100 W. Vine St., P.O. Box 116, Fort Branch, IN, 47648.
