Obituary

Donald Alan Wallace, 73, of Owensville, IN, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 26, 2023. He was the son of Charles and Doris (Lagasse) Wallace. He was born on January 6, 1950, in Manchester, NH.

Donald graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1968 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1969. He was stationed in Germany and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He worked for Denton Construction for over 10 years and retired from Gibson Generating as a scheduler after 20 plus years of service. He is a member of the Princeton Masonic Lodge #231, where he was a past master, and the American Legion Post #216. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, woodworking, tent and RV camping, having parties with family and friends, solving crossword puzzles and watching Nascar preferably with Jeff Gordon as the winning driver.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Charlene Wilhite.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Ziliak) Wallace of Owensville, IN; children, Donald A. (Susan) Wallace, Jr. of Evansville, IN and Kristin (Chad) Gayso of Jasper, IN; siblings, Richard (Carol) Wallace of Owensville, IN and Waughneta (Bobby) King of Princeton, IN,; brother-in-law, Greg Wilhite of Taswell, IN,;  aunt, Lorraine Lagasse of Manchester, NH; grandchildren, Hannah Wallace, Grant Wallace, Levi Gayso, Laurian Gayso, and Kelsey (Lee) Tabor; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:00 p.m. to be held at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN. Services and burial will be private. Military Honors services at the burial will be performed by the Veterans of Gibson County. Donations in his honor can be made to Deaconess Hospice and the American Lung Association. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
