Dorothy Marie (Spindler) Karaff

Dorothy Marie Karaff, 77, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on October 25, 2023, at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN. She was born to the late William and Tillie (Gries) Spindler on October 12, 1946, in Fort Branch, IN.

Dorothy was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, Holy Cross Alumni, and the Kappa Omega sorority. She married her loving husband, Ronald Karaff, on November 26, 1966, and they had 2 beautiful daughters. She worked in accounts payable for Flex Steel and later retired from Collis. In her free time, she enjoyed word searches, hallmark movies, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her stepmother, Ruth (Hurt) Spindler; her loving husband of 43 years, Ronald Karaff; and her sister, Patricia Richeson.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (James) McEllhiney of Francisco, IN and Paula (Mark) Hertel of Evansville, IN; sisters, Doris Jarnagin of Camden, TN and Betty (Frank) Zint of Petersburg, IN; grandchildren, A.J. (Lynnea) Sims, Michael (Trynity) Sims, Austin, Isabel, and Ethan McEllhiney, and Coleman, Clayton, and Colton Hertel; and great grandchildren, Lincoln and Annetta Sims.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch with Father Gary Kaiser and Father Ray Brenner as co-celebrants. Visitation will be on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Stodghill Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until mass time at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in honor of the Karaff family can be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America Indiana Chapter, PO Box 40464, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
