Eric Wade Fisher, 51, of Owensville, IN, passed away on August 28, 2023. He was born to Max Ray and Betty Jane (Austin) Fisher on June 5, 1972, in Terre Haute, IN.
Eric attended First Christian Church in Owensville. He worked for Red Spot Paint for 17 years before becoming employed at South Gibson School Corporation teaching for Owensville Community School and Fort Branch Community School. He graduated from Gibson Southern High School in 1990, received an Associates of Science degree in chemistry from Vincennes University, and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Southern Indiana in 2012. He is also a member of the National Education Association and a past member of the Owensville Carnegie Library Board. Eric married his loving wife, Amy Garrett, on February 27, 1993, and they had 2 beautiful children together. In his free time, he enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Purdue Football, and Gibson Southern Titan football.
He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Paul Garrett.
Eric is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Amy Fisher of Owensville, IN; children, Wade Fisher of Carmel, IN and Haley (Sean Black) Fisher of Fort Branch, IN; parents, Max and Betty Fisher of Owensville, IN; sister, Amelia (Charlie) Michel of Haubstadt, IN; mother-in-law, Phyllis Garrett of Owensville, IN; brothers-in-law, Aaron (Tricia) Garrett of Greenwood, IN and Alan (Kiely) Garrett of Fishers, IN; cousin and bonus brother, Keith (Jane) Rayhel of Marshall, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN, with Pastor Bart Newton officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be at Owensville Cemetery following services.
