Eugene Leo Petitjean, 81, passed away at his home in Haubstadt, IN, on November 18, 2022. He was born to the late Leo and Katherine (Lamey) Petitjean in Haubstadt on August 19, 1941.
Gene was baptized catholic at St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt and most recently attended St. John the Evangelist Church in Daylight. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the American Legion post #351 in Elbefeld, IN. His entire adult life, he was a self-employed carpenter and contractor. He retired from Gene’s Repairs in 2007. He enjoyed woodworking and whittling. He was always “tinkering” and coming up with innovative creations.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Petitjean, and sadly, his sister Carolyn Putnam passed away on November 22, 2022.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Susan (Moore) Petitjean of Haubstadt; siblings, Jim (Betsy) Petitjean of Haubstadt, Mary (Dave) Adams of Fort Branch, and Eileen (Bob) Seibert of Haubstadt; brother-in-law, Tom Putnam of Evansville; sister-in-law, Star Petitjean of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN, with Father Kenneth Betz as celebrant. Visitation will be on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville with Military Honors being performed by the Veterans of Gibson County.
