James Nelson Cross

James Nelson Cross, 95, of Danville, IL, passed away at VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL, on March 25, 2023. He was born to the late Dudley Wallace and Jessie Ollie (Miner) Cross on July 10, 1927, in Princeton,IN.

James entered the United States Army at the age of 16 to fight in World War II where he was sent to Germany. After his honorable discharge from service, he travelled all over the U.S. as a general laborer. He was a hard worker and a “Jack of all trades.” He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene (Moore) Cross; sister, Ruth Craig; and brothers, Doyle Cross and Bobby Cross.

He is survived by 4 brothers, Lester Cross of Princeton, IN, Edward Cross of Evansville, IN, Guy Cross of Princeton, IN, and Larry Cross of Newburgh, IN.

Graveside services will be on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton, IN with Pastor Kyle Powell officiating. Donations can be made to the VFW of your choice. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
