Elsie Joan Michel, 84, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on December 30, 2020 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. She was born to the late Elzie and Elsie (Hicks) White on June 1, 1936 in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Joan graduated from Princeton Community High School in 1954 and went on to the Deaconess School of Nursing where she graduated in 1957. She also married the love of her life, Melvin Michel, in 1957. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Branch where she played the organ for many years. She loved to do puzzles and be with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Melvin Michel.
She is survived by her 3 children, Duane (Dawn) Michel, Rebecca (Mike) Lindauer, and Janet (Kevin) Gentry all of Fort Branch, IN; a sister, Mary Harney of Evansville, IN; a brother, Steve White of San Antonio, TX; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way.
A very special thanks goes to the nurses and staff at both the Golden Living Center – The Woodlands ACU and the Gateway Heart Hospital ICU for their wonderful care.
Services will be private for family only but will be live streamed for the public on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at stodghillfuneralhome.com. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Golden Living Center – The Woodlands ACU 4088 Frame Rd, Newburgh, IN 47630.
