John Conrad DeVoy, 82, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away on May 30, 2023. He was born to the late Daniel and Kathryn (Burghoff) DeVoy on November 12, 1940, in Enfield, IL.
John had several passions in his life, being a Veteran in the Marines, his marriage to Roberta, his concrete business and most notably his grandchildren, especially his newest great grandchild. John and Roberta started their lives building a home in Haubstadt and having three beautiful children. He had pride in his work as Johnny Concrete, serving the community for 35 years. John and Roberta enjoyed 57 years of marriage which included many trips, graduations, family holidays and a whole lot of laughs. John never met a stranger and always had a joke to share. Upon retirement, he was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball, Colts football, Pacers basketball, NASCAR racing and especially the INDY 500. John was a family man who loved spending time with his grandkids, particularly making home-made shakes.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Roberta Louise DeVoy; and siblings, Frank, Daniel, Bill, Joan, Tom, and Jerry DeVoy.
John is survived by his children, Karen (Tracy) Edgerton of Louisville, KY, Mike (Kristy) DeVoy of Indianapolis, IN, and Anna (Chuck) Finnerty of Haubstadt, IN; siblings, Dee Paolella of San Diego, CA, Mary Kelly of Wilmington, NC, Rita Hitchen of San Diego, CA, Tony (Trish) DeVoy of Evansville, IN, and Alice (Bill) Young of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Leah and Amy Edgerton, Kayla (Kenny) O’Brien, Alana, Jenna, and Diana DeVoy, John and Elizabeth Clutter, and Andrew Finnerty; step-grandchild, Thomas Finnerty; and a great grandchild, Kiera Catherine O’Brien.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN, with Father Andrew Thomas as celebrant. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN, and again on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN. The Veterans of Gibson County will perform a military walk through at 9:45 a.m. at the church and full military service at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery following mass. Donations in his honor can be made to the Special Olympics. Expressions of sympathy can be made at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
