Lora Trible Obituary

Lora L. Trible, 83, of Fort Branch, IN passed away on July 18, 2019 at Gateway Hospital in Newburgh IN.  She was born on February 24, 1936 to the late Melbourne and Gretel (Slover) Harmon in Fort Branch, IN.  Beside her parents Lora is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Marion, Warren and Marvin Harmon and Ruth Stone.

Early in their marriage Larry worked for a chain of discount stores and with each promotion came a move to another part of the country. Lora loved to travel and seeing places and meeting new people. She was history buff and would always make the family take Sunday drives to local historical sites. She worked for many years for the Rights of the Handicapped. Lora was instrumental in passing legislation in Pennsylvania that allowed handicapped children to attend regular school. She was an active member of the Holy Cross Spred Program for many years. Lora was one of the first group of cashiers hired at Walmart in Princeton.  She loved meeting people while she worked there and retired after 21 years of employment.  Lora loved to cook and everywhere she lived she gathered local recipes. When the family moved back to Fort Branch in 1977, Lora proudly introduced Southern Indiana to funnel cakes, whoopie pies, shoofly pie and antipasta.

What her grandchildren remember the most about Grandma are the yearly back to school shopping events and she also instilled a love of reading.

Lora loved her family and friends. Though her health prevented her from many social activities near the end of her life, she thought of them often.

Lora is survived by her husband of 62 years, Larry Trible of Fort Branch IN, 4 children; Jeffrey Trible of Fort Branch, Kimberly (Nelson) Drennan of Fort Branch, Kevin (Darby) Trible of Evansville, and Jason (MaryAnn) Trible of Patoka and a sister, Ruby Dilbeck of Bellmont IL. Grandchildren Robert Drennan, Jade and Blaine Trible and great grandchildren Jack A. Paris and Autumn Trible.
