Ray Dean Bryant, 89, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at North River Health Campus in Evansville, IN, on Thursday, April 7, 2022. He was born to the late Nelson and Isabelle (Satterfield) Bryant on November 6, 1932, in Omaha, IL.
Ray was a member of the Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton, IN. He worked for the United States Department of Agriculture as a federal meat inspector for 37 years. As a young man, Ray joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was deployed to Japan. He was a Past President, Past Vice President, and Board Member for the Pike County Bird Hunter’s Club.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Reba Bryant, Ruby Winter, Nora Ruth Cooley, Avis Gwaltney, and Herdis Bryant.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Delores (Johnson) Bryant of Fort Branch, IN; children, Denise (George) Swegles of Brownstown, IN, Donna (Jon) Neufelder of Poseyville, IN, Dawanna Bryant of Scottsdale, AZ, Darren (Debi) Bryant of Brownstown, IN, and Daphne Bryant of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren, Ryan (Natalie) Neufelder, Aaron (Jessica) Neufelder, Jessica Bryant, Jamie (Griffin) Koester, Kelsey Heflin, and Olivia Hurm; and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Powell Cemetery in Norris City, IL at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022, with Military Honors performed by the Carmi, IL American Legion and Carmi, IL VFW. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. Donations in his honor can be made to the Pike County Bird Hunter’s Club and to Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton, IN.
