On November 4, 2023, Shirley Ann Romershausen, 92, departed River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN and entered the next stage in her eternal life.
Born to the late Joseph and Flora (Singer) Meny on May 20, 1931, in Haubstadt, IN, Shirley married her beloved Kenneth Romershausen, on May 7, 1955, and they were blessed with three loving sons. Together they were married for 32 years until Kenneth's departure in May of 1987.
Shirley, a long-time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, a devoted homemaker, and a caring babysitter for many local families, shared her love and kindness throughout her community. In moments of leisure, she enjoyed music, playing softball, line dancing, and cooking for friends and family. She was also a devoted member of the Fort Branch VFW post #2714 Women’s Auxiliary and a 65 year member of the Daughters of Isabella #151, as she continued to serve others.
Shirley now reunites with her husband, in the embrace of eternal love, along with her brothers, Jack, Jim, John, and Gerald “Jerry” Meny, and her sister, Beverly Kaelin, who have gone before her.
Her legacy lives on through her children: Gregg (Jennifer) Romershausen of Fort Branch, IN, Scott (Cynthia) Romershausen of Friendsville, TN, and Brett Romershausen of Haubstadt, IN. Her brothers, David (Mary) Meny of Haubstadt, IN, and Joseph “Bill” (Ruthie) Meny of Griffith, IN, carry the torch of her memory forward. Shirley's light shines bright in the hearts of her grandchildren: Jarrett, Kenn, and Mitchell Romershausen, Alison (Joe) Fox, Bryce (Tiffany) Romershausen, and Sam and Jake Romershausen, along with her great-grandchild, Deacon Fox.
A Mass of Christian Burial, a celebration of Shirley's faith and devotion, will occur on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Father Gary Kaiser as the celebrant. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home, and once more on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Daughters of Isabella will perform Rosary services at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the funeral home.
Following the mass, Shirley will rest, next to her husband, at Holy Cross Cemetery. In honor of her loving and faithful spirit, donations may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church or the GCARC. We invite you to share your condolences and expressions of sympathy at stodghillfuneralhome.com.
