William (Bill) E. Jackson, 91, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on November 21, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. He was born to the late Clarence E. and Golden (Douglas) Jackson on August 11, 1929 in Fort Branch, IN.
He graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1947 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a retired Granger Salesman. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Branch. Bill volunteered with the Salvation Army for many years and organized ringers for the Gibson County area. He was an avid IU basketball fan and Boston Red Sox baseball fan. He also was a volunteer Red Coat at Gibson General Hospital for many years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Lois (Riddle) Jackson.
Bill is survived by his 3 children, Ed (Becky) Jackson of Monticello, IN, Alan Jackson of Madisonville, TN, and Sue (Gordon) Rains of Charlotte, NC; brother, Jack (Diane) Armstrong of Fort Branch, IN; 4 grandchildren, Katherine Rains, Gordy Rains, Jonathan (Stefanie) Jennings and Patrick (Maureen) Jennings; and 3 great grandchildren, William, Lilian, and Silas Jennings.
Services will be on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home with Rev. Corey Atkins and Pastor Jonathan Jennings officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery with Military Honors to be performed by the Veterans of Gibson County. Donations in his honor can be made to the Salvation Army. Please observe social distancing and wear a mask to the public viewing and service. Current capacity is 25 people at a time.
