Mercy. This one hit me hard when I received the news of TC's passing. When I think of Evansville Sport's Writers, TC, Bill Fluty, and Tim Ethridge immediately come to mind. TC was special to me however. He covered the high school Golf scene and the Evansville Courier Men's City Golf Tournament during my youth. You could see him from a par 5 away with his Fort Branch cap he wore all of the time. I was fortunate enough to be interviewed by him multiple times. I'm not sure I even made it in his top-500 interviews in his career, but he was great with his questions, wit and humor. I always asked him after and interview how in the world he could read his shorthand. He chuckled every time.

In high school, I had the opportunity to work a couple of nights a week in the Evansville Courier Sports Department and got to know TC and the rest of the sports writers very well (Chuck Fields, Cliff Guilliams, Fluty, Steiny, and Ethridge). All were masters of their craft, but TC was my favorite.

It's been 25+ since I last had the pleasure to speak with TC, but I can't open up a sports section without thinking of him. He was a spectacular writer, gentleman, and friend. My condolences to Diana, Chris, Angela and the entire family. TC will be missed. He was the best of the best.

Today, on behalf of the citizens of a grateful county, we honor Mr. Collins' military service. We owe him, and those like him, a tremendous debt of gratitude. Surely our nation is a better and safer one because of his selflessness. I beg you to contact me if I may be of any service to your family. With deepest respect and sympathy.
