Betty J (Steckler) Lefler

Betty J. Lefler, 88, of Francisco, IN, was born to the late Henry and Josephine (Angermeier) Steckler on July 16, 1931 on Adler Road in Vanderburgh County.

She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Snake Run and of the Alter Society at St. Bernard Catholic Church. She was a homemaker but spent many hours helping Richard manage the Lefler family farm. Betty loved gardening, especially her flowers. She was also an excellent cook and loved baking bread and reading.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Richard Lefler; her siblings, Edward Steckler, Esther Gries, Oscar Steckler, Irma Bender, Viola Scheller, Gilbert Steckler, Margaret Ramsey, Lewis Steckler, and Sister Mary Esther “Virginia” Steckler.

Betty is survived by her 3 children, Danny (DeeAnn) Lefler of Fort Branch, Paul (Sarah) Lefler of Owensville, and Jonie (Jerry) Anderson of Owensville, grandchildren, Danielle Ott, Logan Lefler, Haley Nelson, Quentin Lefler, Candice Beyer, and Hollie Buchanan; great grandchildren, Abby Jo Ott, Aiden Ott, Malachi Nelson, and Mylee Martin; brothers, Joe Steckler, Harold Steckler, and Donny Steckler; and sisters, Mary Seib, Patricia Jackson, Joan Martin, and Kathy Ising.

Services will be private due to current gathering limitations. Please contact family for information on a celebration of life mass in her honor. Burial will be at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
