Gary Wayne “Red” Sims, 66, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at his home in Haubstadt on April 30, 2021. He was born to Charles and Edna (Smallwood) Sims on October 1, 1954 in Evansville, IN.
Gary was a brick mason by trade who worked for Charles Sims Masonry until his father’s passing in 1984. He became self-employed until he began working at A&T Concrete where he later retired. He really enjoyed being around his friends at the Brass Ring in Haubstadt and will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Sims, Jr., and a brother-in-law, Larry Short.
Gary is survived by his mother, Edna Sims of Evansville, IN; 2 children, Brian (Wendy) Sims of Kansas City, MO and Dana (Mike) Query of Avon, IN; 3 siblings, Steven (Rebecca) Sims of Cynthiana, IN, David Sims of Evansville, IN, and Kathy Short of Evansville, IN; and 5 grandchildren.
Services will be on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with Pastor Mike Douglas officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch following the service. Donations can be made to the family to offset burial costs.
