Gwalia Kay Wassmer, 83, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at her home on March 17, 2023. She was born to the late Densil and Margaret (McCleary) Georges on December 19, 1939, in Fort Branch.
Kay was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She retired from Hansen’s Corporation in Princeton, IN, in 2007 after many years of service. She enjoyed long drives, attending her grandchildren’s sporting event, and playing solitaire.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Marcus H. Wassmer; and her siblings, Louie Georges, Larry Georges, and Glenda Sprinkle.
Kay is survived by her children, Michael (Kristine) Wassmer of Wadesville, IN and Beth (Darrin) Schmitt of Haubstadt, IN; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Landon Schmitt; step-grandchildren, Emily, Elias, and Sophia Atkinson; sisters-in-law, Henrietta Hughes of Evansville, IN and Ann Georges of Fort Branch, IN; and a brother-in-law, Joe Wassmer of Mt. Vernon, IN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until mass time at the church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in her honor can be sent to Holy Cross Catholic Church or the Mike Wassmer Agriculture CTE Scholarship in care of Edward Jones, 12251 Hwy 41 N Suite B, Evansville, IN 47725.
