Larry Georges Obituary


Larry G. Georges, 83, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on November 24, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born to the late Densil “Jim” and Margaret (McClary) Georges on July 26, 1937 in Gibson County, IN.

He was a member of St. Lucas Church. He graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1955. Larry owned and operated Georges Excavating and Trucking for over 50 years and was a member of the Fort Branch Masonic Lodge, Optimist Club, and President of the Band Boosters. He loved to play and watch basketball and was an IU basketball and Phillies baseball fan.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Beverley (Dittmore) Georges; siblings, Donald “Louie” Georges and Glenda Sprinkle; son, Wesley Georges; and grandchildren, Justin Cummins and Hunter and Morgan Wilzbacher.

He is survived by his loving significant other, Jacqueline Fulton; children, Kimberly (Roger) Elpers of Haubstadt, IN, Dana (David) Cummins of Fort Branch, IN, Jan Wilzbacher of Fort Branch, IN, and Brooke (William) Adcock of Evansville, IN; Jacqueline’s daughters, Beth Lipko and Amy Mutz;  sister, Kay Wassmer of Fort Branch, IN; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Services will be on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN with Pastor Adam Ping officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 29, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Masonic services will be performed by the Fort Branch Masonic Lodge. Graveside committal will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery at 2:45 p.m. and general public is encouraged to attend. Donations in his honor can be made to the Indiana Grand Masonic Lodge Relief Fund, P.O. Box 44210, Indianapolis, IN 46244-0210 or to Riley Children’s Hospital, 30 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204-3509. Due to covid restrictions, there will be a limit of 25 people allowed in the building at one time. Masks are recommended as well as social distancing.
